Nursery Staff

We are very pleased to have two dedicated and experienced members of staff running the Nursery: The nursery is lead  by Mrs Fincham and is supported by Mrs Di Palma. They are a creative team and work very hard to provide a stimulating environment in which every child gains confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Mrs Begum also assists in the Nursery three times a week. We are also very lucky to have Mrs Cooper, who teaches fantastic music lessons on a Monday morning. We have listed some important information for new parents here, but please feel free to come in and talk to us should you have any questions at all.

Routine

Every morning our children self register and then they choose their first activity from a range, which we have prepared depending on our topic for the week. We cook on a Wednesday morning and do our PE on a Friday.

Behaviour

We encourage positive behaviour by modelling good manners and praising the children when good behaviour is demonstrated. The children also receive house points, stickers and certificates. We encourage all children to recognise and think about how their behaviour has affected themselves and others throughout the year.

Curriculum

The Nursery maintains a well planned inside and outdoor environment enabling children to learn through meaningful play experiences.  A play based curriculum is a natural way for young children to learn and it is the majority of children’s interests that reflect upon our planning. The children are also engaged in small or whole group teacher led activities daily. The foundation stage (our curriculum), is broken down into 6 areas of learning:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development,

Communication, Language and Literacy,

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy,

Knowledge and Understanding of the World,

Physical Development, and

Creative development

By the end of the year we aim for all children to become more independent, confident and skilled in each of these areas.
