Maths Week 2012

This year our maths week is based around “Patterns in Nature”. Children will be scouring the environment around the school and nature in general, looking for any patterns. How can nature teach us about maths? Well have you every wondered whether flowers have odd or even numbers of petals? Which leaves are symmetrical? Ever thought why bees make honeycomb in hexagons? Well we’ll be discovering the answers during maths week. It’s a great opportunity to teach the curriculum on ‘Shape and Space’: Symmetry, counting, 2D and 3D shapes, angles etc.

Check back here as the week progresses to see photos and more.
