Science Week 2012

This year during science week (19-25 March) Ridge field will be exploring “The wonder of life!”

A whole week will be dedicated to the development of our scientific enquiry skills…Learning to question, analyse and investigate the world around us. The week will neatly cover our Science curriuculum on Habitats and Lifecycles. Watch this space for live updates as the week progresses.

We are also planning a few exciting whole school events. The Raptor foundation will be visiting and working with all the children. They will bring in a selection of birds of prey to show the children and they have promised to do a flight display! (We know the children are going to love this!). They will also lead some sessions, dissecting owl pellets, so investigate what they eat. Learn more about the Raptor Foundation by clicking here.

We are also very lucky to have Mr Michael Hinton coming into school from the Babraham Institute. He will be leading sessions on “variation and natural selection”  and “Extracting DNA from onion” for the Key Stage 2 children. We are very excited about this and we know the children will gain invaluable insight into the scientific world right at our doorstep. We know that our children are all “Brave Explorers, Great Thinkers” so we can’t wait to see how many end up as world renowned Scientists! Learn more about the institute by clicking here.
